Who is legally responsible — the importer or the foreign supplier?

- Does the service include the full FSVP program, or just agent registration? — An agent without a documented program does not protect you during an inspection.
- Do they update the program annually? — FSVP must be reviewed at least once per year, or whenever products or suppliers change.
- Can they communicate with FDA in English? — If an inspection or import alert occurs, you need a bilingual agent who can respond directly and professionally.
- Do they have experience with your product type? — Hazard analysis varies significantly across fresh produce, seafood, processed foods, and ingredients.
Is a Well-Done FSVP Worth the Investment?
A single shipment refused at the border — including storage, re-export, or destruction costs — can easily exceed $10,000 USD. That does not include the cost of losing the customer or reputational damage with other buyers.
