FSMA · Foreign Supplier Verification Program

FSVP compliance for U.S. importers of Mexican produce

We build and maintain your Foreign Supplier Verification Program, so every Mexican supplier you buy from is evaluated, approved and verified, and your records are ready when FDA asks.

Is your FSVP ready for an FDA inspection?

  • A written hazard analysis for each food
  • A documented evaluation and approval of each supplier
  • Verification activities on file (audits, testing, records review)
  • Reevaluations at least every three years
  • Records you can produce quickly when FDA requests them

Missing any of these? We can help.

What we do

Your FSVP, built and kept current

You stay the FSVP importer of record. We act as your qualified individual on the Mexico side: we know the farms, speak with suppliers in Spanish and turn their certificates and audits into FSVP-ready records.

Hazard analysis

A written analysis of the known or reasonably foreseeable hazards for each food you import.

Supplier evaluation and approval

We review each supplier's food safety performance, certifications, audit results and compliance history, and document your approval.

Verification activities

We define and document the right activities for each supplier: onsite audits, sampling and testing, or records review.

Supplier files and master list

One organized file per supplier, plus a master list showing status and expiration dates at a glance.

Ongoing maintenance

We track expiring certificates and audits, schedule reevaluations and add new suppliers as your sourcing changes.

FDA inspection support

Preparation for FSVP inspections and help responding to FDA observations.

How it works

We collect documents from your Mexican suppliers and complete each file.

4

Ongoing monitoring, reevaluations and inspection readiness.

FSVP questions importers ask us

Who needs an FSVP?

Under FSMA, the U.S. owner or consignee of imported food at the time of entry generally must have an FSVP for each food from each foreign supplier, unless an exemption applies.

Are you the FSVP importer for my company?

No. Your company remains the FSVP importer and is identified at entry. We prepare and maintain your program as your qualified individual and support you during FDA inspections.

My supplier has PrimusGFS or GlobalG.A.P. Is that enough?

A GFSI certificate is strong evidence for your supplier evaluation, but FSVP still requires your own documented hazard analysis, approval and verification activities.

How often must suppliers be reevaluated?

At least every three years, and sooner when you learn of new information about a hazard or a supplier's performance.

Do you work with importers outside produce?

Our core expertise is fresh produce from Mexico. Tell us what you import and we will say honestly whether we are the right fit.

Request an FSVP proposal

Tell us what you import and from how many Mexican suppliers. We reply within one business day, in English.
